No, it’s not a typo, you can earn money by rating other people’s articles on Helium.com, but I’ve also written an article telling you how to earn money writing on Helium (click here to view, then come back and read this important part of the story).

There are several ways to earn money writing on Helium, but like any freelance work, you need to tackle it as you would any business.  You are highly unlikely to earn straight away, as all new businesses take time to build.  However, the site is easy to join, and, like Hubpages, there’s loads of information to help you get your writing business off the ground, so do some research on the site and ready every bit you can about ways to earn money there. 

Rating other people’s articles is the key to earning a share of the ad revenue on helium. If you don’t have any rating stars you won’t be getting your share. Experts on the site suggest spending ten minutes or so a day rating other people’s articles.

Every time you publish a piece of writing, you will automatically be directed to the rating part of the site. I tend to rate five articles for every one that I publish, that way, you remain fresh and it doesn’t feel like a chore.

 It is suggested that you rate articles on spelling, grammar, punctuation and quality of content, so that only the best ones go through.  This means that whatever you write must be of the highest standard, as your article will be up there for rating by your peers.  It is best to try and suspend your own beliefs when rating, and stick to assessing the quality of what’s written, rather than how much you agree with the subject matter of the content.  Articles are rated anonymously, so you won’t know if you’re rating a fellow Hubber or not, but you can message the person about their work, and I quite often do if I’ve read something really good, as I think it’s always nice to get positive feedback.

There is an earnings and payments section on the Helium site, and once you have one rating star you will start to see your adsense revenue begin to build.  Interestingly enough, I waited ages for even 1 cent through my Hubpages site, but with Helium, I had around 50 cents within the first week.  Ok, that was still peanuts, but they were my peanuts and I could see them growing daily.

Once you get the hang of rating it’s fun and a breeze to do, and it would be such a shame to miss out on your share of the ad revenue by not taking part.  It’s so simple, and you could easily earn money rating on Helium.
